Implant Supported Dentures
What are implant dentures?
Implant-supported dentures, or implant dentures, are a type of restoration designed to replace most or all missing teeth. This treatment uses several dental implants to secure a denture-like appliance on the gumline, providing a more stable and comfortable alternative to traditional dentures.
A wide range of solutions are available to address missing teeth, including conventional, removable dentures, dental implants, and implant-supported dentures. Many patients find traditional dentures uncomfortable or inconvenient. For others, a full set of dental implants is either too costly or not a viable option due to jawbone density or strength. In these cases, implant-supported dentures can be an excellent alternative that can help you restore your smile and your confidence. Our experienced dentists utilize the most advanced dental technology available to create state-of-the-art restorations that can look and feel like your natural teeth. Furthermore, they will take the time to customize your treatment plan, review each step, and help you feel comfortable going forward.
What are the pros of implant-supported dentures?
Implant-supported dentures have many of the same potential advantages as dental implants, as this technique uses the same concept, as well as other positive elements unique to this approach. The benefits include:
- Lower cost than a full set of dental implants
- Shorter treatment time and recovery than a full set of dental implants
- Beautiful, strong results that look and feel natural
- Slip- and mess-free denture replacement
- Preservation of jawbone density and strength
What should I expect during the implant dentures procedure?
The implant-supported denture process is very similar to the dental implant one. Your treatment plan will be designed with your needs in mind, and our dentists will evaluate your oral and medical health to determine if this procedure is appropriate for your needs and goals. We will talk extensively with you about what to expect at each stage of treatment to help you become well-informed and comfortable. Our knowledgeable team is also happy to provide information, and we encourage you to speak up with any questions or concerns.
With implant-supported dentures, usually two to four implants will be placed in each jaw section (upper, lower, or both), and these are used to anchor the dental appliance (denture) to your mouth. Once placed, there will be a healing period while the jawbone heals around the posts. Using the latest dental technology, the denture often can be manufactured and placed on the same day as the implants are positioned. However, some patients may need to wear a temporary denture while their implants heal and return for their final restoration once recovery has completed. Our dentists will talk you through which method is ideal for you.
How much do implant dentures cost?
Since implant dentures use fewer dental implants than a full set, there can be significant cost savings compared with that procedure. Even with this improved affordability, patients can still enjoy strong, durable, and natural-looking results, which makes this treatment one of the most popular options for replacing missing teeth. Generally speaking, dental implants can cost between $1,000 and $4,000 per implant. There is an additional cost for the denture appliance. When determining the price of implant dentures, your unique treatment plan will play a large role. The complexity of your case, number of implants used (typically four, although sometimes it can be as few as two or are many as six for each arch), and other factors will be considered. Our dentists will develop an optimal program, and our skilled team will go over all the details so you can be fully prepared to make the best decision for your needs and goals.
What are the types of implant dentures?
To ensure you have the best dental restoration options at your disposal, we offer a range of leading techniques, including:
If you have sufficient jawbone density, this procedure can replace all missing teeth on the upper or lower arch with just two dental implants. Four will be needed if you wish to replace all teeth on both the upper and lower jaw. This approach is not appropriate for everyone, and our dentists can evaluate your concerns to let you know if this or another technique is right for you.
Similar to All-on-2, All-on-4™ replaces all missing teeth on the upper or lower arch with four dental implants, which can support a denture securely and with natural-looking results. This procedure is also often called Teeth-in-a-Day and can restore the smile more quickly than a traditional full set of implants can be completed.
Full Mouth Reconstruction
If you’re experiencing more than one dental concern, such as missing teeth and gum disease, crowded teeth, or stains, full mouth reconstruction may be right for you. This customized procedure combines the techniques you personally need to restore your smile to a healthier and more beautiful state.
